Site Updates and New Content
07/21/08 10:35 PM
Finally, there is some
news to report. I once again changed the site layout,
although the color scheme is pretty much the same. And
I put all the music content all on one page, which I
think is much easier to browse through.
And there's finally a new song up! My first foray into vocal work, it's called Vocalise and it's in the electronic category because I didn't really know where else it fit. Hope you enjoy!

New Buying Options
03/27/08 05:40 AM
There are some cool new
website updates to announce.
One, you will now receive an automatic 15% discount when you buy 10 or more tracks. There are no codes required, and there is nothing special to do on your part. Just add 10 tracks to your cart and you'll see the magic happen.
Two, you can now sign up for the 2007-2008 complete catalog feed for an absurdly low $30.00. This will get you every single track in the SM catalog starting with the first songs added way back in August 2007 and continuing through with every future track added through the end of 2008. In the end, that will come down to something like $.40 a track or less. That's just crazy cheap! Click on that choice on the buying options page to get started.
Three, you can now leave comments and rate the songs. So, if you do buy a song, please rate it, leave a comment, and let the world know whether it totally sucks or not. And if you use it in a podcast, tell everyone in the comments and get some free advertising for yourself.
I hope these are worthwhile new things for you, and I hope you'll especially consider the complete catalog feed, as you never know when a wide variety of DRM-free music could come in handy for your podcast or other independent production.
I would also like to remind you that you can get any of these songs in a Garageband file for $2.99. Just go to the contact page and tell me which one(s) you want. Then, have fun with your remixing.
Thanks, as always, for perusing the site!

Or Is It?

I really want to like
Wordpress. I really do. I like the open-source ethic of
it. I like the thousands and thousands of templates
that are available. But try as I might, I have had the
most difficult time trying to get it to do what I need
it to do for this site.
In the meantime, I will continue to use Rapidweaver, as I always have, and I will continue to get new tracks up here. There are plenty of new songs backlogged, just waiting for their day in the sun.
I have also removed all of the Garageband files for immediate purchase. But fear not, Mac-owning musicians. I can still sell them to you to remix easily if you like. Just send an email to chris(at)satisfymedia and let me know which one(s) you'd like. I'll send you an invoice, then you can pay the $2.99 per file, then I'll send you a link. Now, this whole process might take up to or beyond 24 hours, depending upon how fast you pay and how quickly I read your email, so please be patient.
Thanks as always!
Chris

Change is Good
01/03/08 04:26 PM
Over the next couple of
weeks, I'm going to switch over to Wordpress and also
sign up with a new service for the subscription model,
which I'm thinking will be a small monthly fee.
So, for the moment, the subscription link is down. I'll probably have to come up with a new term for it, since I think a lot of people probably think of those Naptser-esque subscription services where they get all the music for a flat fee, but then it all disappears when you don't pay the fee. This has never been the case here. Once you pay for and download a song at Satisfy Media, whether on its own or as part of the paid RSS feed, it is yours forever.
And for a short while in the future, the entire site will probably be down as I switch over to the new software.
I also think that, because of the hosting costs and the limited demand, on the new site, the Garageband files will no longer be available for direct purchase. I'll still make them available, but you'll have to send me an email and then I'll send you an invoice, and then a link once you've paid.
You can still, of course, purchase any of the DRM-free MP3 or Garageband files in the meantime.
Thanks for visiting and happy new year!

Coverville Theme
12/21/07 12:38 AM
One of my favorite
podcasts is Brian Ibbott's Coverville. If you don't already listen to
it, you should. It has introduced me to countless
performers that I had never heard of. Brian does a
great job and every episode is interesting, even if
you don't particularly like the songs. And I always
find it very interesting to hear famous and
not-so-famous songs done in new versions by
different people. In many (if not most) cases, the
cover turns out to be better than the original.
So, when Brian announced that he was having a contest to remix his theme song (his own cover of Springsteen's Cover Me), I thought I'd try my hand at it.
Well, he was kind enough to use my effort in his most recent podcast. Although I guess I came in last place (the story of my life). But I'm looking forward to hearing what the other entries sound like. So, if you want to hear my version of someone else's version of a song, head on over there and take a listen. The vocals, the guitar, and the high strings are Brian's (mostly) unaltered originals (I did tweak the vocal settings a little). The bass line, the brass, the drums, and the organ are my additions/changes. (Although, now that I think of it, for comparison's sake you ought to listen to the original theme song on an earlier episode first.)

And We're Back
11/18/07 12:45 AM
Well, it's amazing how
much faster time flies by when you're old. One day it's
August and then you look up and Thanksgiving is just
around the corner.
I've upgraded to iLife '08 for those of you interested in the Garageband files, but I'm still cranking out tunes I made in iLife '06. And these can, of course, be opened in either version.
The next few tunes that will be coming out will be solo piano, but fret not if that bores the living daylights out of you, because there are plenty more instrumental/electronic selections on the way.
Thanks for listening, buying and/or subscribing!

So, I just get this
little enterprise up and running and
Mr. Jobs unveils iLife 08. For those of you who are
interested in buying the Garageband files from this
site, I'll still be using iLife 06 for a while to
give everyone a chance to get upgraded. I'd love to
get one of those shiny new MacBook Pros when Leopard
comes out, but I'd also like to wake up every day
next to Natalie Portman, and I doubt either of those
things will be happening soon.
Thanks to all of you who are stopping by to check out what I'm doing. If you are a podcaster or video/audio producer, I truly hope you can put some of these pieces of music to interesting use. Please let me know if you do!
